HEYlo! I was laying in bed last night and think about all of these random thougths. Well I thought that I would call this Food For Thought.
So I was watching the Olympics and thought about a couple of things. Project Runway had a challenge where they had to make an opening ceremony outfit for the athletes. Well this guy made an outfit that was blue and red and he [the designer] said that he thought that it might look too much like a wonder woman outfit, and Michael Kors (a judge) said something kind of special. He said that Olympic athletes are the closest thing that we’ve got to wonder woman.
Now really chem on this. These athletes train and bleed and sweat just to represent AMERICA. Now I think that these guys has more guts that anyone who thinks that blowing someone else’s country is representing is surely mistaken.
Chew on That

I know you guys probably don’t know this but I am a HUGE Olympic fan I don’t care what Olympic (Summer/Winter) but I will be watching as much as possible. I mean that Opening Ceremony WHOA! But this particular Olympic has raised some controversy. I personally love the underdog so I feel like Beijing deserves the Olympics. My grandma says that she wouldn’t go because of their human rights and I totally understand but the vagueness of that makes me think of America. I mean human rights isn’t always in the forefront of our prez’s mind. But besides that I noticed that the sky may be blue in Beijing but you couldn’t tell. I feel sooooo bad for Beijing. I mean I would hate if I could NEVER see the sky. So I am watching as I type the Men’s 400M Freestyle Relay.
This Relay was really important for Michael Phelps especially who is one a mission to win about 8 gold medals so this race will help him or not. Well this was a race not to be soon forgotten. The world record was shattered I would have to say by about 4 seconds which is HUGE! So the french team comes out saying this quote: “The Americans? We’re going to smash them. That’s what we came here for.” Well that guy was wrong. American slipped the race by .12 seconds I mean it was THIS close! Michael Phelps needless to say was overjoyed about it. I have to say that it was an amazing race.
Hey did you know that Bernie Mac died? Sad Ain’t it.
Much love!

Hello everyone well I have a surprise! Now close your eyes
Now open them!

Aren’t you glad to know that I am a Haunted House. As usual I got this quiz from The-N.com and I have to say this is the first one that I think is dead wrong.
I am NOT dark and mysterious if anything I have upfront about everything and then some. I do NOT like to freak people out I do have a friend however that tells all of these random facts that are kind of creepy. And last but not least… I HATE haunted houses.
I have hated haunted houses since Halloween in the 2nd grade I think it was. I went with my friend ‘H’ to her parish for their haunted house. Now the haunted house was in the field house and it was very scary. I saw blood and guts doctors operating on people un-sedated. Neeless to say it was not fun so this one is wrong so I have to say that I am a little disappointed. So try it out and see if yours comes out right.

Ok well the definition for iconoclast is: 1) A breaker or destroyer of images esp. ones of religious reverance
2) A person who attacks cherished beliefs, traditional institution, etc., based on error or superstition.
Now with that being said there is this great show on the Sundance Channel called Iconoclast. Last night I saw the Iconoclast with Alicia Keys and Ruby Dee , which I highly suggest, and I thought about other ‘iconoclasts’ and how you become one. Basically I was really thinking about people who have tried to get other people to ‘Think Outside The Box’ I call these people ‘Think Outside The Boxers’ no pun intended. So these Think Outside The Boxers really do try and change peoples minds.
Since I have been thinking (Uh Oh!) about who was/is an iconoclast. Now I also thought about how Iconoclasts aren’t really like the definition. I think that Iconoclasts have became a phenomenon. For example Disney.
Now my mom says that before Disney there was just public television. I am not talking about way back when it was just Mickey Mouse, but when the network came on. Now Disney makes shows like Hannah Montana and Cory In The House that before would have been out of the norm. But on the other hand you could argue that since now there is Nickelodeon and maybe some other television networks that have the same mold. Now Nickelodeon is much more cartoon oriented to me but at the same time it still makes ‘original movies’ and has the same executive producer for practically every show, Dan Schneider, who has made shows like All That which ran for twelve years, The Amanda Show, Drake And Josh, and Zoey 101, and last but certainly not least, iCarly. Now Nickelodeon did come first by a few years but Disney did a lot of remodeling now it is like the child’s channel. I mean that you’ll definitely think of Hannah Montana and High School Musical but you wouldn’t really think of SpongeBob SquarePants recently they thought of Zoey 101 because the star was pregnant…at 17.
Now with that said how do YOU define an Iconoclast?

I think that ignorance is dangerous but I mean the word ‘Sure’ should be a bad word because you have me a girl who really does want to help and I am good at it but there is this thing 90% of the time that is like “I really don’t want to do this.” but I just suck it up smile and say “Sure!” (the exclamation point is important. If you are reluctant then they won’t want your help) I am a very good public speaker and my church is a church that is very interested in the youth ministry. With this being said we are having an International Day soon and I am dancing with the dance ministry but on Friday someone emails me and says “Oh Imani I know it’s short notice but I want you to do a 2 minute presentation on Israel.” Now I am sure that this is very honorable but at the same time I wish I had time because I know little to nothing about Israel but being the good person that I am I jovially said “Sure!” and I have to have it done with pictures and facts about every aspect of their culture by 2more. So with that being said I am learning how to say No and I think that some people should join me!
Doesn anyone know anything about Israel?

Well I have told you all a lot about my obsessions but I think that I have failed to mention my obsession with the Twilight book series. Now as many of you may know Twilight (Written by Stephanie Meyer) is about to be made into a major movie. Now since they actually want the movie I don’t know actually sell tickets they have been doing major promo so on MTV.com’s movie blog they do Twilight Tuesdays which is where I got my inspiration.
MTV.com’s Movie Blog did a post about an Entertainment Weekly cover photo with the stars of the movie. I didn’t think that it was that bad.

People have said that the photographer or artistic director doesn’t know what the characters are about because in a nutshell Bella(Kristen Stewart )is the outsider and Edward(Robert Pattinson) is the un-attainable mysterious guy who ends up being a vampire. In Forks, Washington where this all takes place there was an old myth about to different Native American tribes about Edward’s family. Bella finds out and is more drawn to Edward. Then bad guys come and try and kill Bella because her blood smells so good
.
Now with that being said this magazine cover doesn’t really show any of that. I think that it shows what the stereo-typical vampire movie is about. The apple is a bit of Twilight history the first book in the series named…. Twilight (::Gasp:: shocking!) has this cover

Now with seeing that you may think whoopdy doo but really it meant a lot to Stephanie Meyer (the author) so I think that was a nice touch. Now I also think it was good because when you think of vampire that’s what you think of. You or at least I think of Dracula with the pasty skin and the ravenous look to feed on human flesh. So I think that I should say Bravo to the photographer for capturing that.
Well with that being that I have a new layout coming as soon as my dad can help me get it up here. It’s gonna be completely different than this one because truthfully I am not a pink kind of gal

I was thinking about how everyone is hurting. Now I know that sounds like I am making general assumption but think about it the economy is in a recession and we ‘little people’ don’t have any say in this at all, and summer, the time that should be a happy time, has turned into a very strained time of year because you can’t go anywhere because of gas and airfare sure isn’t much better. So I was thinking why doesn’t everyone join together like we did on 9/11? I sure have no idea because I know that everyone should help one another when they are going to have to start putting a five dollar bill in the gas tank. Now I know that I am having a hard time with this because I wanted this summer to be awesome! I mean like my family and I could go to see our state more and more because we haven’t been very stable in the summer in a long time. But it reminds of books that I read where a girl wants to steal a boy from another girl but when the other girl dumps the boy then the girl doesn’t want him anymore. I mean I wanted to stay in my state but I didn’t understand that I am basically quarantined and now I want to go everywhere just to see if I can. And my parents have been saying that I am starting to think like an adult which means I let myself down easy before I am turned down. For example I wanted to got to Six Flags with my church’s youth group but I remembered how much amusement parks cost and then I thought about spending money and decided to forget about it. I mean at least that would be better. And earlier this year I danced but then my dance teacher moved to a studio farther out and all the time we would have to fill up the tank to go and my mom would say things like how we are spending oodles and oodles of money on gas because of my dance and then my grandma would come into town and make it worst by saying “When is dance over because this is costing your parents a lot of money to take you to dance three times a week.” and I loved I mean LOVED dancing especially ballet and people told me I was good and I just got back my exam grades and they were awesome for my first time and I had just gotten on pointe. But unfortunately I had to let myself down easy my teacher cried when I left and I couldn’t bring myself to say that I just couldn’t afford it. I know feel bad for asking for anything I mean ANYTHING because I know that first there is and ecologic footprint that might belong to bigfoot for my family and things cost MONEY! So before I do anything I have to ask myself can I earn this money without taking from my siblings because I have 4 siblings that follow behind me who may I don’t know want to see a movie and if I want to go to dance camp that costs four hundred dollars that’s a lot less movie money. Now most people might say that I shouldn’t worry about these things but being a considerate person I do. A lot. I know that I might have this glass half full thing going for me but I just don’t think that will last much longer when I live in the suburbs now and stoplights don’t do much for the gas tank and that is the goal I can’t ask with and easy heart to go out and see a movie unless I have that money already at my hand and I can’t get a minimum wage job until I am 14 and I am 13 so that is out of the question unless I am just that good that people would break laws for me. But what I don’t understand at all is why people seem so shocked that I don’t notice because it’s all around me always I am always passing by gas stations that fluxuate but never decrease. I can’t stand it and it’s not like there’s anything I can do about it. I have to just suck it up and make sure that carpooling is an option and even then that I have money to do what I want to do because nothing is mandatory and what isn’t I should pay for but the problem is no single person can afford to pay me anyway because they are feeling the exact same way and Starbucks is closing like 200 stores and American Airlines are firing 900 flight attendantsa and Anheiser Busch is closing it’s plant in St. Louis so there aren’t really gonna be any jobs and me being a person of limited knowledge I can’t even blame someone so that I can write a scathing letter to them and tell them that it hurts me maybe more that it hurts certain adults. I hate that it’s come to this resorting to blogging to let people know how you feel but there isn’t this openness that there used to be because everyone is trying to hide the fact that having more that 2 kids is getting expensive and they are not noticing that when you tell your teenager to go get a job and they don’t that more that likely means they CAN’T because adults need those jobs and they are trying to keep them because that have to eat too.
Well I just wanted to know how hard it is to live anywhere today I know there are worst places to live that the USA butI can’t really feel sorry for them as much as I used to because it isn’t much better I mean there is a war going on and everything is going up which means self care is going down because people can’t afford to care for themselves but it’s been like this in different era’s my dad said it was like this when he was a kid and that was in the ’70s it’s just not right.

Ok I have to say that I have seen more of my dad in Will Smith all the time or vice versa but I think that the most apparent thing is their manerisms. This interview shows that. He talks about how he has been basing his past few projects on trauma basically. The way he laughs and his hand motions were dead on. So I have taken it upon myself to cast Will Smith as my dad if I ever have a biopic or anyone of my family members do. I bet Jada Pinkett could even play my mom because she is so cool!
Well know that’s out in the open I was watching the Sound of Music and I think to myself ‘what a wonderful world’ just kidding but I thought about how that movie started Hollywood’s obession with nannies or ‘governesses’ and families with a lot of children. Now this movie reminds me of Cheaper by the Dozen and Yours, Mine, And Ours because of the number of kids but those two movies had to double even triple the number of movies. The Nanny Diaries for some reason has some resemblence of that movie as well because if you saw that movie Scarlett Johanson’s character was trying to find herself like Maria was and she was well spoken like Maria. Now I haven’t seen enough nanny movies to sight the part where the employer falls for the nanny but I am sure if I search some movie buff’s knowledge I know I would find some.

I have a lot to say and it’s almost midnight but I thought I’d check in.
Well first I have a message to the people out there NO I am not talking about the dogs or the cats or even the fish or the turtles. I think that talking about people is unnecessary. Now I have experienced that today (I’ll tell you about that at another time) and I mean just little things like I use the word ’subside’ instead of ’slow’. Welll “Excuse ME!!” I actually LEARN English and it’s Latin and Greek derivatives I understand that schools are lacking I really do but do you have to hate on the people who don’t go to school except with college educated people. I think that if you don’t understand something ask or, dare I say it, get a dictionary ::GASP:: I know who even knew that dictionaries still exist.
Also I think that it is unfair of people to be ignorant. There is a song in particular that I like more because of the artist. It’s Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’. Now this song might sound kind of like a lesbian love affair but really in actuality it’s a song about how Katy’s boyfriend (Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes if you’re wondering) needs to watch out because there is some competition and Katy’s other song ‘Ur So Gay’ I actually don’t like as much but it’s kind of like one of those breakup songs that are like getting out all the things that they hated about that person. And she is listing all of the things that she hates about her boyfriend.
So with that being said I think that people should look into the artists that they listen to because 80% of the artists I listen to I read their blogs, check for shows, leave comments about new endeavors (Uh-Oh Big Word) so I may have some miniscule understanding of where they are coming from. So someone I was with was talking about the song ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and she automatically said “I think she’s bi.” Well I understand from that song title that is understandable but unfortunately NO ONE except the artist understands where the songs are coming from and some time the singer doesn’t even know it’s the songwriter. So I want people to have a thought to chew on.
Now (deep Breath) CLOVERFIELD! That movie was awesome I don’t even like scary movies but that movie had me wondering what the monster was. Let me rewind the movie Cloverfield is about people who are getting attacked by a thing from the view point of the people’s handheld camera from background information to…. well you need to see the movie to know where. But I think that if you are looking for something to scream at the TV for you’ve got it.
With Open Arms
Imani
P.S. What’s the difference between checking a book out of the library and downloading a song/album without paying? Just some food for thought.
